Clear about money
Affiliate & Sponsored-Content Disclosure
How we make money, and the wall between that and what we tell you.

The Academic Ninja is free to read. We cover our costs in two labelled ways, and we keep both of them away from our editorial judgment.
Affiliate links
Some links to third-party programs or services are affiliate links: if you click one and take an action, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When a link is affiliate or a listing is sponsored, we mark it—for example with a “Sponsored·Paid placement” label—so you always know what a link is before you click it.
Sponsored placements
Occasionally an education provider pays to appear in a clearly marked placement. These are labelled as sponsored and are kept separate from our editorial guides and tools. A sponsor cannot buy a recommendation, a ranking, or a place in an article.
What sponsorship never buys
- Our editorial guides. They carry no paid links and are written to be useful whether or not any offer exists.
- The public-programs directory. Those are official government and nonprofit programs; we have no commercial relationship with them and earn nothing if you use them.
- What we actually recommend. The facts and the guidance don’t change because money is involved.
Before you click an offer
We only present an education opportunity when there’s a credible basis for it, and we try to keep calls to action low-pressure and clear about what happens next. Even so, a labelled offer is an advertisement: read the provider’s own terms, check accreditation and outcomes, and never borrow or enroll under pressure. Our guides on vetting a school and what college actually costs are good armor.
